We are officially into our 3rd week of our 2nd rotation. It’s scary how quickly time is flying by but it’s like they say, “Time flies when you’re having fun!” The most difficult part of the year for me has been not seeing all my friends on a daily basis like I used to. We are spread out across the Triad and the state so anytime there is an opportunity to come together, we do so!
Last week, a group of us went to dinner at our favorite place in Burlington, Mykonos, where we celebrated a classmate’s birthday. We spent the evening in the study room we used to call our own and caught up on each other’s lives. Rotations are so much fun and all we want to do is talk about everything we are seeing and actually doing. The fact that we are now seeing patients on our own and our preceptors are asking for our thoughts on formulating a plan for patients is pretty amazing. It has been something we’ve been working towards for the past year and whenever we can tell stories of our rotations, we are quick to do so!
This past weekend we had the opportunity to celebrate the new addition to our PA family as well. Our classmate is expecting a baby boy in May so we threw her a baby shower on Saturday. It was another fun-filled afternoon spent catching up with each other and sending well wishes to the mommy-to-be! We played corny games and watched the happy couple open their gifts while we “oohhed and ahhed” at all the tiny outfits and cute toys!
With less stressful days and nights in the classroom, we are able to enjoy just being together and having fun, which is what made the birthday celebration and shower even better. No more twice weekly quizzes and tests to worry about for the 2nd years. It’s as if we have a life now! Clinical year has started off great and I am looking forward to everything else I will be able to experience!
